Homeownership

Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program provides opportunities for qualifying homebuyers to purchase new or renovated homes with an affordable mortgage.

Housing Counseling & Financial Education

Habitat for Humanity offers one-on-one pre-purchase / homebuying counseling and group education opportunities focused on financial literacy, home affordability, budgeting, and understanding and using credit.

Home Repairs

Do you own your own home but need assistance with repairs, weatherization, or accessibility? Home Preservation services may be able to provide assistance with affordable maintenance on your home.

Tool Lending Library

The Tool Lending Library, located at the E. Euclid ReStore in Des Moines, provides an opportunity for homeowners to become a member and borrow the tools necessary to repair or beautify their own homes.

2025 Impact

In 2025, Habitat for Humanity celebrated an incredible year of impact in Dallas County. Four affordable homes in Perry and DeSoto were successfully closed, and we marked the milestone with a heartfelt Homeownership Celebration honoring the dedication and perseverance of our partner families. Several homeowners shared powerful reflections on what purchasing a Habitat home meant to them, with one family calling their Habitat house their “dream home,” a moment that was both emotional and deeply inspiring.

We also hosted a Rock the Block event in Adel, completing five home preservation projects for local homeowners. During the event, we partnered with Adel Parks and Recreation on a community space revitalization for a local park that included new play structures, fresh mulch, and significant clean-up and improvements. In total, we completed 20 home preservation projects across Dallas County.

In 2026, we look forward to building this momentum and continuing to expand home preservation efforts throughout the county (including through a Rock the Block event in Perry).
