At Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, our Core Crew volunteers make a critical difference. Through regular volunteering across a variety of different volunteer functions, they provide reliable support for all the work we do building homes, communities, and hope.

Core Crew Volunteer Opportunities:

Construction

Help build and rehab homes in our community. Expect a wide variety of tasks:

• Framing walls
• Siding
• Installing flooring
• Building and installing cabinets
• Painting and finish work
• Home preservation and repairs

ReStore

Help fix and stock donated items to provide revenue that funds our programs:

• Test and repair appliances
• Intake new donations
• Prepare items for sale
• Help manage inventory
• Assist staff

Deconstruction Team

Help safely remove appliances and cabinets for donation to the ReStore:

• Safely and cleanly deconstruct cabinet sets for donation
• Remove and prepare cabinets and appliances for transport to the ReStore
• Help drive revenue to fund our programs

Home Preservation

Help with critical home repairs and home modifications to preserve low-income homeownership:

• Window replacements
• Ramp construction
• Deck resurfacing and rebuilding
• Siding replacement
