Beth is the single mother of two young children; Chanel, 10 and Dewann, 8, both of whom attend Johnston Elementary School. Beth is employed in the customer service department of Marsh where she has worked for two years. Currently living in a subsidized apartment, Beth will be helping to build her new two story 3 bedroom home at 1719 12th street on the city’s near north side.
Independence, stability and security is the dream she will realize this fall when she and the children purchase their new Habitat home. Beth looks forward to having a yard where the kids can play, and she can feel safe that they are nearby and in sight rather than the remote playground at her apartment complex.
With housing then affordable, and her assets beginning to accumulate, Beth hopes to soon resume work on her associate’s degree in criminal justice at DMAAC, a dream currently deferred.
